These photographs, freely inspired by the pictorial technique of an acclaimed artist from Sansepolcro, capture fragments of images, visions, and broken moments from the ancient Palio, which since the 15th century has seen the crossbowmen of the City of Sansepolcro compete in a one-on-one contest against those of Gubbio.

The images were created directly in-camera, through the rendering of a single file, without the use of AI or any particular post-production techniques.

At the moment of capture, the photograph can only be sensed, imagined; it is a vision, a thought that will materialize only when the file is rendered by the camera.

The secret is knowing how to “see” what cannot yet be seen—and this is the “magic” of photography.
